MAPPA First Phase (1998-2004)

MAPPA Phase I projects focused geographically on five South Asian countries: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. During this phase, MAPPA brought out several publications and contributed to  organising international, regional, and national conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, and study tours.  The first phase also completed a number of commissioned studies, and assisted various institutions and organisations in the publication of medicinal plant-related books, proceedings, journals, and newsletters.

Second Phase (2003-2007)

The MAPPA in South Asia is currently on its second phase, with projects  in India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. It was during this phase that MAPPA was devolved to ICIMOD, extending the Programmes geographic coverage to the Hindu-Kush Himalayan region, including countries like Afghanistan, China, and Myanmar.
